Further information
A very varied tour in Vienna's local mountains on the Krummbachstein, at 1602 meters the highest point of a plateau in front of the Schneeberg known as Gahns. Steep forest slopes interspersed with rock lead up to the Bodenwiese, the largest contiguous alpine pasture area in Lower Austria. Depending on the season, flower meadows await us, which are grazed by cows. Behind it, the stand-alone Krummbachstein keeps watch of honour for the often snow-covered and 2076-meter-high Kaiserstein. The summit allows a panoramic view over the Viennese Alpine arc, the Wienerbecken and deep down into the Höllental. Several mountain huts invite you to stop for a break every season unless we are enjoying the sun on one of the viewpoints.
